A month of thankfulness

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged – life gets busy. But I would like to share with you a journey I am embarking on that I started yesterday. It’s easy to be surrounded by negativity in this culture especially in this time of year. Despite the fact that we are entering into the holiday’s, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the consumerism of this time, or the overabundance of parties to attend, gifts to buy, and overall work to be done. I tend to become consumed with buying the right gift and making sure that all my school work is done, the house is clean and has a hint of a cinnamon smell to it. I forget about all the things to be thankful for – that I have a house to clean, a school to attend and the ability to purchase gifts for people.

So I am embarking on a month of thankfulness. For one month, every day, I want to dwell on something I am thankful for, and share that thankfulness with others. I won’t always post my thankfulness things here, but they will always be on my facebook page. But here’s what I’ve got so far:

November 1:

I am thankful to be surrounded by friends and family who help me in practical ways when I am a bit frenzied.

November 2:

The God I serve is bigger than politics but He allows us to participate in it and can work through a political system no matter who’s in charge.

I would like to encourage you to join me on my thankfulness journey! I want to hear what you are thankful for and how God has blessed you in your life. Let’s be thankful together.

I like it Karen. Give thanks in everything! We have food, water, shelter, family, and an abundance of everything. We are really trying to slow our lives down, and focus on God, not on trying to keep up with the American way.

[…] I kept coming up with things to be thankful for. I think it helps that I have embarked on a thankfulness journey this month, but I just have so much to be thankful for! Then I got the song lyrics from Casting […]
