My thoughts on class today (Nov 2, 2009)

“Orthodoxy has been formed on the anvil of persecution and sacrifice”.

Today, we watched a video on the orthodox church that was maybe made the year I was born. But it was interesting to see the foundation and growth of the orthodox church. I thought it was quite poignant how much the orthodox church has suffered through persecution, especially during the time of communism. But orthodoxy doesn’t celebrate Christ as the victim, but as the victor, and this is evident in how they have persevered throughout the centuries. I am excited to learn more about this time in church history!
